PSALM 73: 24-28

PSALM 73: 24-28

PSALM 73: 24-28

"You guide me with your counsel,

and afterward you will receive me to glory.

25 Whom have I in heaven but you?

And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you.

26 My flesh and my heart may fail,

but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

27 For behold, those who are far from you shall perish;

you put an end to everyone who is unfaithful to you.

28 But for me it is good to be near God;

I have made the Lord God my refuge,

that I may tell of all your works."

Our Modern Translation:

Father,

Guide me with your loving and perfect will all the days of my life so that someday after I die I will be brought to the complete fullness of your love and lasting Glory.

There is no one else in heaven or earth like you. There is nothing (and no one) worth desiring above you. Forgive me when I forget this.

My innate desires and longings of my heart have failed me utterly but you give me strength and are my full Joy forever.

I know that those who despise you, those who are unfaithful to you, will all meet your righteous justice and their destruction. But God I thank you for calling me to you and bringing me salvation. May I always turn to you for refuge and store up your works in my heart so that no matter what, even in times of struggle I can profess your faithfulness and joyous love to all.

In Jesus name, Amen.
