Simple Pleasures

I was reading through entries from my old blog tonight and came across this one from June 17, 2008 (when Justin and I were recently engaged). It's so true, even now, five years later. That makes me ridiculously happy!

My favorite moments with Justin aren't glamorous. They aren't announced with call or clamor. There are no expensive restaurants, exotic locations, or prestigious wines. They don't sparkle or attract everyone's attention.

Instead, it's all napkins with penned love notes, the ink running into all of the letters, blurring their individual distinction. They are cups of steaming homemade coffee, crayoned, hand-made cards, and hand-picked wild flowers from some random patch of field. I love Justin's laugh; his right eyebrow, how it tilts upward when he's trying to be serious; his joking "you know" expression; his loving, big hand reaching out behind his back for mine. These are what I miss when I am away, and I am aching to see him again. These are the things that will make me stay with him for the rest of my life.

Oh Jusje, I love you so much! Thank you for never leaving me or giving up on me.
