Our House: Part 1 - The BEFORE and Process
I should have done this a while ago, but I've been too exhausted / pregnant / busy to post anything. We (as in Justin) have spent a lot of time working on our new / first home! It's been so exciting and tiring in equal measure. Closing day, September 15, 2015, we finally signed the closing documents with our awesome Realtor, Jennifer Wiederkehr:
And then our first night as homeowners:
The Boys' Room
Guest room not shown in MLS...
And Here's our process of repainting EVERYTHING, adding hardwoods, and replacing the lights: IN PROCESS
All of the walls and ceilings were identically shades of horrible beige! It was a giant beige box. We started by painting the ceilings ourselves. Then we realized that was insane and hired someone to paint all of the ceilings for us. We relied on family slave labor for painting everything else. . .
Awful beige to Pencil Sketch Gray:
Awful Beige Office to . . .
Sea Glass Green:
Awful brown door to . . .
And then the floors. . . Linoleum and dilapidated carpet to . . .HARDWOODS!
Ugly Light to. . .
Pretty West Elm / Craig's List light:
Boys' bathroom, second floor (not featured in MLS photos).
Here is the original inspiration image (yes, yes, mine isn't anywhere close to this pretty!):
We're removing the glass sliding shower doors and adding a constellation shower curtain like one of these:
The Boys' Room:
Ever since we took Jude skiing two years ago, he's been obsessed with camping and mountains! We decided to bring that into the boys' room with a mural and (eventually) a tent bed and campfire nightlight. Here are the inspirational images we took at Nebraska Furniture store:
Also, I did start my wall art downstairs, but it was crooked and got repainted. . . Waiting until I have enough energy to tackle this again and my polka dot accent wall upstairs:
The inspirational image doesn't look anything like my attempt :/
As for the backyard. . . Yeah, it pretty much the same except for a small infestation of box trolls:
More to come soon . . .
